Our office is proud to have acquired the newest, most innovative and latest technology on restoring teeth in one single visit: CEREC® CAD/CAM (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) software.
The tooth is prepared either for a crown, onlay or inlay and the preparation is photographed by using a digital camera. A digital model is fabricated using the computer; and the image is refined using the 3D CAD software.
The future restoration is designed by the dentist with the help of the software from start to finish. When the design phase is complete, the information is sent wirelessly to the milling unit, which mills the actual restoration from a solid block of porcelain material using diamond burs in minutes. The final restoration is chemically bonded to your tooth. This way we can save as much healthy tooth structure as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that actually strengthens your tooth.
- One single visit: Only one appointment is needed for esthetic restorations as opposed to two or more trips for a traditional crown. No need for conventional impressions and temporary restorations.
- Conservation of more tooth structure: Most times a partial coverage restoration (inlay/onlay) can be fabricated instead of a full crown.
- Stronger restoration: Milled porcelain is stronger than hand layered and pressed ceramics.
- Aesthetics: No more silver fillings.
